How long is salmon good for unthawed in the refrigerator?

Saturday night I took Salmon out of the freezer and put it in the refrigerator. It is now Tuesday night. It's unthawed and it smelled nasty when I cut it out of the wrapper, but I wonder if that's what it always smells like thawed and I'm just used to it being somewhat frozen.
