Why does America try to make other nations looks bad?

They always try to make other country looks bad like Kennedy did to the Soviet Union and Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis and Bush with the Axis of Evil. Iraq, North Korea, Iran, Cuba, Syria etc. What's up with that??
