My baby alligator turtle is borrowing?

I just put it in a terrarium with water dirt rocks, you name it but as soon as it found the dirt it borrowed and hasn't come out since yesterday. I put chicken meat out on the dirt so maybe that would get it to come out but it hasn't been touched. Why is it doing this???
