Would I be able to find an apartment? No job; co-signer?

I'm hoping to re-locate to Austin, TX by the end of February. I have no steady job, though I am hoping to find one by the time I want to move. In case I am unsuccesful, I have a question: I would like to move anyway, but don't know if I could find an apartment. I will have only about $1,000 - 1,500 in the bank (rent in area where I want to move is about $600) which I know is not nearly enough. But I would have help from my mother who will also co-sign. Problem is, though she has fantastic credit, a large amount of her salary will show to be commited to other monthly bills. Will I be able to find a reasonably decent apartment under these conditions. I can pay maybe 3 months in advance but not more. And I plan on finding a family-owned type place through Craigslist, not a large, company owned complex. Do I have a shot?
